How can I get my baby to open his mouth wider to latch on?
My son is 7 weeks old and still struggles with latching on at times. I have a hard time getting him to open his mouth wide enough to latch on without hurting me. I have tried waiting for him to open his mouth after I have touched his lip with my ****** but I could wait all day for him to open wide.
I think part of the problem is I have overactive letdown and an oversupply of milk….. so when he does latch on he gets flooded with milk. Because of this he tends to have a shallow latch so he can clamp down when letdown occurs. I have been to see a lactation consultant several times to help with this problem but nothing seems to work. I guess I just have to wait for my milk supply to regulate.
Does anyone have any pointers on ways to get my baby to open his mouth wider? Does anyone have any idea when your milk supply usually regulates?
Thanks for any insight you can offer me.
What is going to happen to my milk supply if I don’t breastfeed at night?
My baby is two weeks old. I breastfeed during the day plus I pump some extra milk so my husband can feed the baby from the bottle at night. That means about 9 hours break for me. My friend today told me, that this way my milk supply is going to decrease, so I asked another girlfriend and she said that your body will do what you get it used to. So where is the truth, is my milk supply going to decrease or no?
But then how is possible that some women can breastfeed for over a year, although I believe they don’t nurse a year old baby at night…?
How can I increase my milk supply using only a pump?
I am a new mom. My baby is 3 weeks old. I only pump just for the fact the I’ve never really produced enough milk for her so I pump and supplement with formula so I can somewhat regulate how much she is taking in. Lately, I haven’t been able to pump as much. Everyday it seems I get less and less. I have the best pump, and it works great… I just don’t have the same amount of milk as I used to. Is there something I can do to increase my milk supply?
I haven’t tried to breastfeed her since the hospital… I’m not even sure if she will latch on, she wouldn’t do it well there. The Lactation person there told me to supplement, so I’m not sure how I would even begin to bring her back to ******.
How to dress baby to bring her home from the hospital in California winter?
Most books, brochures, and web sites mention that babies are released from hospitals in receiving blankets. However, it is not clear how to secure baby in the car seat with 5-point harness if he/she is blanketed? We live in SF and expect to bring our baby home in January. Thank you very much!
What baby formula is the highest quality and best tasting on the market. Are organic formulas better?
I am looking for what could be considered the “best” baby formula. The best meaning the best for the baby including ingredients, recipe, quality, and taste. Also are organic formulas that claim to not contain growth hormones, steroids, antibiotics etc actually worth it. Your opinions are appreciated. Thanks
When did you start your baby on meat babyfood?
My baby started solids early, cereal at three months and baby food at four months. Now she is five months. I feed her cereal twice a day (morning and evening) and 1 jar stage II baby food for lunch. I was wondering when I could replace that evening cereal feed with a meat and veggie supper-like meal.
*Please no comments like your not supposed to start baby on solids until 6 months so on and so on…I am already aware of all the information about starting your baby on solids.
When did your baby start to make eye contact with you and track objects with their eyes?
My son is 4 weeks old and still doesn’t really make eye contact or hold your gaze.
Most baby books say at 4 weeks old they can accomplish those tasks, but I’m not concerned.
My son was 2 1/2 weeks early which makes him a little later on some milestones.
And I know all babies develop at different times.
When did your baby start making eye contact, or tracking a toy or object with their eyes?
What is a good schedule for a nursing baby about to start solid foods?
My daughter is 5 months old, in a month we are going to start to introduce her to solids and I am so confused as to how and when to do what foods. People and the doctor told me to start with rice cereal first, which is fine but I dont want my milk supply to go down and I dont want my daughter to get confused. Whats a good schedule to do with a nursing baby starting out on cereal, veggies and then fruits.
How much baby food is the right amount?
My 8 month old daughter is eating stage 2 baby foods. I have looked in my books for specific amounts on how much to feed her but the books only say take out only enough for what you will use. With a 4 oz jar I take out 10-15 baby spoonfuls of food which is about 1/2 the jar and then give her formula after wards. She seems happy and full and is gaining weight so I must be doing something right. Any suggestions from the moms here.
